The course is designed to give new TAB operator staff an exposure to the basic functions and terminology used in the language of wagering, as well as exploring some of the more advanced functions. The course content will also provide valuable information to existing TAB staff and venue managers, offering a refresher in best practice operations and supervisory cash control functions.

TOPICS COVERED:

The TAB operator course will combine the necessary theory with the practical hands-on TAB terminal operation and functions. Each course participant will receive a quality TAB operator handbook manual to keep as a reference tool to support them in their future working capacity. The content of the course includes:

  • Customer service in wagering, privacy, responsible service best practice
  • Types of wagering, the national pools, the elements of the industry
  • The language of wagering, odds, navigating form guides and TAB information screens
  • Common bet types, exotic bets, sports betting, multiples, are explained
  • TAB terminal operation and functions, keyboard, signing on/off, batching operations, maintenance and cleaning
  • Cancelling bets, UNCA’s, lost ticket claims, trace key functions, stop pays
  • Security, suspect amounts, best practice operation tips, ‘common scams’
  • TAB advanced and supervisory functions, accounting, terminal balancing, office balancing, cash control book ledger compliance

We are in partnership with QHA for this course.  So this course is held off campus in Brisbane.

PARKING:  Unfortunately there is no cark parks available for students at the QHA.  There is city parking close by.  The closest would be the Myer Centre (however very expensive), however there is an option of public transport.  The train station is about a 5 minute walk.  Walking MAP from Central to QHA
